Graft Extraction

Between extraction and placement, grafts rest in cold HypoThermosol solution rather than plain saline. Holding them cool and moist through this window is one of the main reasons the protocol sees strong survival.
Opening the Recipient Sites

As soon as a graft is out, it is placed in HypoThermosol FRS, a solution first made for keeping donor organs stable in transit, held between 2 and 8°C. The grafts sit on cooled trays, and the team logs how long each batch has been out so every graft is placed while it is still in good condition. Plain room-temperature saline, still used by many clinics, offers far less protection.
